CHARLES LUTZ: Get it?

The conceptual artist Charles Lutz's cartoons started as a quick way of conveying ideas on Instagram about the art world that would come up in conversation with other artists, gallerists, and collectors, in addition to his own personal experiences. They eventually turned into a series of paintings.

The images are formatted and based on the New Yorker cartoons, some are collages of several cartoons, all with new texts. The cartoons indeed have a way of cutting through a certain tension of topic, making things more permissible. A number of them reference previous bodies of works, namely the idea of transaction in art.
